Waxing FAQ

  • How long will my wax last?
Everyone’s rate of regrowth is different and the results will vary between guests. Usually your wax will last between 3–4 weeks... But remember, with the right products, you can help your body stay smoother, for longer!
  • Does body waxing hurt?
It depends on your tolerance for discomfort. Try to keep in mind that you are removing the hair from the root, but trust me I will make sure you are as comfortable as possible. Let’s be honest- the first time, you will feel some discomfort, but each time will get easier. We use hard wax (no strips) on all sensitive areas which means LESS PAIN! Hard wax only adheres to the hair, and not to the skin. We also sell RELAX AND WAX NO SCREAM CREAM which is a topical anesthetic cream that can ease discomfort up to 80%!
  • Can I still wax after getting a tan? What about a spray tan?
We recommend waiting at least 24–48 hours between waxing and tanning because your skin may be more sensitive. Because waxing exfoliates the skin by removing the top layer of dead surface skin cells, you're more likely to experience sunburn. If you are going to go in the sun within 48 hours of waxing, we recommend wearing a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more. If you just got a spray tan I don’t recommend getting waxed, because this exfoliates the top layer of skin and can mess up your spray tan look.
  • Will I be in the hands of an expert?
Absolutely! I am a licensed esthetician and have been waxing for 5 years. I worked for a very popular waxing franchise for 2 years. I specialize in speed waxing and have extensive training! I’m fast and efficient, and will make you feel comfortable every step of the way.
  • How long does my hair have to be to get waxed?
We need it long enough so the wax can grab the hair, so let it grow to about 1/4 of an inch- about the size of a sprinkle on your ice cream.
  • Do I need to prepare for my wax?
No! Just arrive on time and we will take care of the rest.
  • Can I wax during "that time of the month?""
Most definitely! We can absolutely wax you if it's that time of the month. Just be aware that the area is more sensitive and you may experience more discomfort than usual.
  • Can I wax after a sunburn?
We will not perform services on sunburned skin or skin that is irritated or unhealthy. When your skin has healed, you can call to book a reservation for services.
  • What’s the difference between a SPHYNX-KINI a SPHYNX-FRONT and a SPHYNX-BARE?
SPHYNX-KINI Bikini line is a basic tidy. We wax the sides (called your panty line) and across the top. If you’re wearing a bikini, this will prevent any hairs from "peeking out.” SPHYNX-FRONT Bikini Full is the next step and allows you to take off as much or as little hair as you like off the front. If you want to leave a small "landing strip,”, a triangle or nothing at all- it’s up to you! SPHYNX-BARE Brazilian goes from the front, all the way to the back with an added butt strip. This is perfect for a completely nude look or you can leave a neat triangle on the front. Choose your style!
  • I'm pregnant, can I still wax?"
If you are pregnant, congratulations! And yes you can still wax. However, you may experience more skin sensitivity due to the hormonal changes your body is going through. I will make you as comfortable as possible during the service. We recommend checking with your doctor before you get waxed during the last two months of pregnancy.
  • Can I still wax after getting a facial?
You can still wax if you received a basic facial that includes a cleanse, steam, exfoliation and mask. If you received a specialty facial that includes, but is not limited to, an alpha (AHA) or beta (BHA) hydroxy peel, microdermabrasion or any other deep exfoliation treatment, then you need to wait at least 7 days to receive a wax service. You should check with your doctor to ensure its okay for you to wax after having any medical-grade facial treatment.
  • Can I wax when I'm on medication?
It's always best to refer to your doctor if you have any questions. For prescribed creams such as Retin-A or Differin, we advise that you stop use 7 days prior to your wax reservation and do not resume use until 7 days after your wax service. We will not wax you if you are on Accutane. It's very dangerous to wax while on Accutane and a doctor's note will be needed to receive services. Remember, it's important that you inform or update us on what medications you may be taking so we can ultimately provide you with a safe waxing experience.
